These distinguished recipients are exceptional young alumni who have made significant contributions to their respective fields and communities. 18 Under 31 honorees represent the best of the Capstone, showcasing talent, dedication and legendary leadership.

Dr. Steven Beall
BS ’16
physician in the U.S. Navy
Lieutenant Steven Beall is a physician in the U.S. Navy. Beall was drawn to UA’s culture of excellence, where he was an active member of the Dr. Robert E. Witt University Fellows Program. During his time at Alabama, he founded a mentorship program for at-risk high school students and led a research team investigating the role of stress in early child development. He graduated in 2016 summa cum laude while majoring in biology and minoring in psychology. Following his time at UA, Beall was commissioned into the U.S. Navy and began his medical degree at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. Upon graduation, Beall entered his top residency program, the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center of Internal Medicine. Beall thrived at “the President’s Hospital,” providing care for service members, veterans and elected officials, and graduated as the most outstanding resident in his class. Now, Beall serves onboard the USS WASP, a U.S. Navy amphibious assault ship forward-deployed to the Eastern Mediterranean.

Megan Birkes

vice president of operations and development for the Yummy Restaurant Group
Megan Birkes is vice president of operations and development for the Yummy Restaurant Group,
a UA alumni-owned restaurant company in Honolulu, Hawaii. She became the company’s first intern her senior year in college, then joined Yummy after graduation and quickly ascended the ranks. Birkes grew up in a hospitality and military family in Orlando, Florida. Her father was an organizational psychologist who helped clients move forward in their careers and lives. Birkes knew she wanted to be like her father and has always had an entrepreneurial spirit, starting her first company at 10 years old. After high school, she joined the University’s hospitality program and business management program. As a student, Birkes became an Avanti orientation leader, resident adviser, Honors College Alabama action leader, Honors College ambassador and a member of The XXXI. At Yummy, she now manages the same internship program that launched her career and focuses on what her father inspired her to do, developing nearly 600 team members and turning them into leaders. In her free time, Birkes helps coach youth basketball, surfs, paddleboards and cooks with her friends.

Lillian Roth Brand

director with NP Strategy
Lillian Roth Brand is an innovative communicator known for connecting people and ideas to activate change. As a director with NP Strategy, the strategic communications subsidiary of Maynard Nexsen, she brings industry experience and political acumen to the firm and its clients through business development, strategic communications and stakeholder management. Brand is a Montgomery, Alabama, native and completed her graduate and undergraduate work at UA, earning both her bachelor’s degree and an MBA. She served as the Student Government Association president and later
served as the MBA Association president, chairman of the Advisory Council on Student Wellness and chairman of the 125 Years of Women celebration while in graduate school. Brand continues to serve her alma mater through the Student Life Leadership Council, Alumni Advisory Council on Wellness and the Student Government Association’s Presidents Council. In the community, she is involved in the Alabama Girls State program, the Rotaract Club of Birmingham and her local Chi Omega Alumnae Association.

Piper Reyanne Daniels

senior systems engineer at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics
Piper Reyanne Daniels is a passionate and philanthropic senior systems engineer at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. Daniels graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering in 2019 and an MBA in 2020. While heavily involved in various organizations during college, Daniels was recognized as an outstanding senior leader, the AIAA outstanding aerospace senior, and she received the Manderson Graduate School of Business Outstanding Leadership Award. Daniels is most proud of her involvement in the Outstanding Student-Initiated Engagement Effort Award granted to UASPACE. As founding project manager of UASPACE, she secured the opportunity to launch the University’s first satellite into orbit through the NASA 2020 CubeSat Launch Initiative, making UA a space-faring university. Daniels is actively involved in her community today through initiatives such as Habitat for Humanity, Girls Inc. and Rebuilding Together. She serves as president of the Fort Worth alumni chapter, is a volunteer committee member for her hometown of Grapevine, Texas, and president of a club for Lockheed Martin-Fort Worth’s early career employees.

Michael Dunn

Michael Dunn is a transportation safety engineer
for VHB. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree
in civil engineering in 2017. While at the Capstone, he was a member of Randall Research Scholars and an Honors College ambassador. Following graduation, Dunn went on to earn his master’s in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, where his thesis developed performance measures for prioritizing traffic signal retiming. Dunn then moved to Raleigh, North Carolina.
Dunn’s strong foundation in traffic operations,
forged while at UA, positioned him to address
the rising traffic crash rates in the U.S. by exploring the relationship between traffic operations and safety. He has become a national expert in the Safe System Approach, a paradigm shift in how roadway safety is addressed, and has managed over $1 million in federal and state safety projects. Additionally, his interest in urban planning and passion for walking and biking have led him to become an expert in designing roads to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety.

Caitlyn McTier

marketing manager and brand strategist at William Morris Endeavor
Caitlyn McTier is a passionate brand strategist
and community activist based in New York City.
With a robust background in communications,
she specializes in sports marketing at William Morris Endeavor, where she manages projects and drives ideation. A native of Sylacauga, Alabama, McTier graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in news media and double minors in African American studies and civic engagement and leadership. During her time at the University, McTier served as the vice president of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Student Government Association, was president of The XXXI, an all-female honor society, and was an active member of Capstone Men and Women and the Blackburn Institute. She received the prestigious Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award in 2021. McTier also co-founded Alabama’s coalition dedicated to addressing student poverty in 2018. She serves as a fellow for the White House Historical Association and actively participates in the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health. Additionally, McTier is a board member of the East Alabama Rural Innovation Hub.

Dr. Allyson Pitzel
BS ’17, MA ’18, PhD ’23
research assistant professor at The University of Alabama
Dr. Allyson Pitzel is a research assistant professor
at The University of Alabama. She received her Ph.D. in special education in 2023. Pitzel’s research focuses on improving the literacy and self-determination skills of students with disabilities and students at risk for disabilities in the most restrictive education settings, such as residential treatment facilities and juvenile justice facilities. Her goal is to teach youth how to use reading and writing to self-advocate for things they want or need once they transition back to less-restrictive settings such as their neighborhood school, community or workforce. Pitzel has led a series of single-case design studies using the Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) instructional approach with self-determination for adolescent girls with disabilities and at risk for disabilities in a juvenile justice facility. Across all studies, youth wrote and self-advocated more through their writing. She has also been published in top-tier special education journals that are presented nationally and internationally and recognized through numerous national awards.

Bethany Triplett

Bethany Triplett is the owner and operator of the Tuscaloosa clothing staple, The Shirt Shop. After graduating in 2016, Triplett stayed in Tuscaloosa to start her professional career at The Shirt Shop. During her time in Tuscaloosa, she has seen The University of Alabama from the perspective of a student, a resident, a young professional and a business owner. Triplett’s love, dedication and passion for The Shirt Shop stems from the incredible experience she had in Tuscaloosa, beginning with UA. It comes full circle for her daily when she meets families from across the country coming to school at UA or attending a football game. The excitement in their eyes is a familiar feeling that she remembers all too well.

Amanda White

Amanda White is a senior technical project

crime lab focused on securing digital evidence for litigation and investigations. White serves on leadership teams for Walmart’s Black & African American Resource Group and Black Technology Network. White graduated magna cum laude in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in management information systems and is a Tuscaloosa native. In 2021, she earned an Executive MBA from the University of Arkansas, serving on the EMBA Student Advisory Board and Dean’s Young Alumni Advisory Council while completing the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps Program. While at UA, she held leadership positions such as Culverhouse Ambassador, SGA Student Judiciary Board, Order
of Omega, Omicron Delta Kappa, executive positions in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the National Pan-Hellenic Council. White also serves as chief marketing officer for the STEAM nonprofit, A Little Bit of HOPE, and volunteers with various STEAM organizations and accelerators.

Mike Bernier

Mike Bernier is director of mergers and integrations in the financial services industry at Balefire Wealth. He is from Madison, Alabama, and earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics in 2019. During his five years as a punter for the Alabama football team, Bernier contributed to securing national championships and SEC championships. The discipline and perseverance he learned on the field now guide his work as he leads efforts to ensure smooth transitions and integrations of acquired firms. He oversees financial due diligence, assesses acquisition targets and develops integration strategies that align with Balefire’s goals. In addition to his current role, he also provides tailored executive financial counseling, retirement planning advice and private wealth advising to high-net-worth clients. Bernier is the vice president of the North Texas Alumni Chapter, where he fosters alumni engagement and contributes
to chapter growth.

William Bomar

mental health therapist and social worker
Will Bomar, a Tuscaloosa native, is a licensed master social worker practicing mental health therapy at both the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center and Clarity Counseling. He specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy and Cognitive behavioral therapy. Bomar has always had a strong desire to help others and has been deeply fascinated by the power of the mind. He pursued a career in mental health and received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work. In between receiving those degrees, he also earned a master’s degree in church planting from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Bomar considers it an incredible honor to provide treatment to those with various mental health issues and disorders. Additionally, he is a co-founder of the West Alabama Trauma Recovery Network, where he actively serves as co-coordinator, and is an advisory board member for the Alabama School of Alcohol and Other Drug Studies.

Bry Rivera Burrows

Bry Rivera Burrows is a dedicated professional with more than five years of experience at IBM, where she has excelled in consulting clients through software financing and as an AI partner at the forefront of life-changing technology. Burrows holds a degree in Spanish and political science, which reflects a strong commitment to understanding diverse perspectives and global issues. Following her undergraduate studies, she pursued an MBA, further honing her skills in business strategy and management. Burrows is originally from Atlanta and comes from a vibrant Brazilian family, instilling a rich cultural background that fuels a passion for travel and exploration. She enjoys being social through workouts, cheering for her favorite sports teams and engaging in community service to help others. Burrows balances professional ambitions with personal interests, striving to make a positive impact both in the workplace and in the community.

Dr. Andrew Ross D’Entremont

Dr. Andrew “Ross” D’Entremont works in the litigation section at Jones Day, one of the top 10 largest law firms in the U.S. After graduating from the University in 2019 with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science, he attended the University of Notre Dame Law School and Mendoza College of Business, earning a JD and an MBA in 2022. In 2020, he completed a master’s in marketing from UA during the COVID-19 pandemic. D’Entremont then earned his Ph.D. in higher education from the Capstone in 2024. He has also taught as an adjunct professor of law and currently sits on several university and national boards, including the Student Life Leadership Council, Omicron Delta Kappa National Finance Committee, UA’s Lambda Chi Alpha House Corporation, the Notre Dame Alumni Association and many others. He enjoys running in races, working in his garden and, of course, cheering on the Crimson Tide.

Capt. Sean McSpirit

congressional fellow for the U.S. Marine Corps
Captain Sean McSpirit is a congressional fellow
for the U.S. Marine Corps, where he acts as a marine liaison to the U.S. House and Senate. After earning a bachelor’s degree in finance in 2019, McSpirit was commissioned as a logistics officer, serving as the second in command of 105 Marines in a combat logistics company. The highlight of his service was a deployment to Saudi Arabia, where he served as the lead logistics planner for a forward-operating base in Yanbu. This base housed 800 U.S. Department of Defense personnel, and McSpirit’s responsibilities included intricate coordination with contractors throughout the Middle East and navigating the complexities of Saudi customs. In his current role, he bridges the gap between the military and legislative branches, ensuring effective communication and advocacy on behalf of the Marine Corps. Alongside McSpirit’s professional duties, he is actively pursuing a master’s degree in public policy at George Mason University, further honing his skills in public administration and policy analysis. He is a proud recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.

Dr. William Miller

second-year emergency medicine resident physician at UAB
Dr. William Miller is currently a second-year emergency medicine resident physician at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After graduating from The University of Alabama in 2019, he attended Quillen College of Medicine. Here, he co-founded a large student organization focused on providing care for those experiencing homelessness. Due to his commitment to community service, he was elected by his peers to the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and his academic performance landed an election into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He also received his MBA during medical school. Outside of his residency training, William is currently interested in investing in healthcare companies. Last year he acquired an equity stake and served as Executive Director for a medical billing company called 107 Success. He is now transitioning into a role as the Managing Partner for Allergy Services of America, a company providing allergy testing and treatment to thousands of patients throughout the Southeast. Additionally, William is the Founder of Axial Patient Care which provides remote patient monitoring services for medical practices.

Claire Stebbins

Claire Stebbins is a cofounder and director
of Reading Allies, an Alabama nonprofit
dedicated to closing the literacy gap by helping below-grade readers achieve grade-level standards. Under Stebbins’s leadership, over 80% of students in the program consistently meet or exceed state grade-level standards. In 2019, Stebbins was tasked by Dr. Robert E. Witt, former chancellor of The University of Alabama System, to expand Reading Allies statewide. Stebbins’s ability to engage a diverse volunteer network that includes honors students and CEOs has been a cornerstone of Reading Allies’ success. In addition to her role with Reading Allies, Stebbins serves as a consultant to the Tuscaloosa Education Foundation and is currently director of development at The Ohio State University. She is also pursuing her MBA at Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business. Stebbins graduated summa cum laude in 2019, where she was a Robert E. Witt University Fellow, executive director of Engage Tuscaloosa, and member of The XXXI, the Anderson Society and Alpha Delta Pi.

Capt. Samuel Tucker, DVM

veterinarian in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps
Captain Samuel Tucker, DVM, is a veterinarian in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps. Tucker graduated magna cum laude in 2017 with bachelor’s degrees in biology and English and then received his doctorate from North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. Tucker was commissioned into the U.S. Army Reserve and transitioned into active duty as a captain upon graduation. Tucker completed the First Year Graduate Veterinary Education program in Fort Liberty. He now serves as the officer in charge of the Vilseck Veterinary Treatment Facility in Bavaria, Germany, where he provides veterinary care for more than 4,000 privately owned animals of service members and seven military working dogs. Tucker is pursuing a master’s degree in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia through the University of Edinburgh and will begin a residency program in veterinary anesthesia this year. Tucker is the recipient of the Army Achievement Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terror Service Medal.

Meagan C. Wilson

Meagan C. Wilson is a senior coordinator of partnership marketing at NASCAR. She is also a first-generation college graduate living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Wilson earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in marketing in 2021. While at UA, she was involved and held executive positions in several organizations, including Alpha Kappa Psi, First Fellows, Tide Talks and Manderson Women in Business. She also interned with Alabama Athletics, Stabler Sports, FOX Sports and the Pittsburgh Penguins. She serves as the director of marketing and media for the BamaCharlotte alumni chapter and is a social media consultant to Downtown and Mane in Tuscaloosa. Wilson also serves on the leadership team of the Young Professionals Advisory Board for Carolina Youth Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to nurturing and propelling underprivileged, high-achieving students to and through college. UA laid the foundation for the achievements Wilson has been able to accomplish. This foundation, in conjunction with her national-scale work with Fortune 500 brands at NASCAR, allowed her to make an impact on the local level and with Charlotte-area youth in her community.
