Alumni Scholarship Program

The Alumni Scholarship Program was initiated in 1967 by the Alumni Council. The program is currently designed to:

  • reward high school seniors and transfer students for their academic and leadership achievements,
  • recognize current full-time undergraduate students for academic excellence,
  • assist graduate students with their efforts for higher learning,
  • support distance learners with their online education,
  • retain UA Early College students entering as on-campus freshmen, and
  • attract children and grandchildren of active UA graduates to the Capstone.

Although the Alumni Scholarship Program manages scholarships for students who have a parent or grandparent who received a degree from UA, the majority of our scholarships are available to all students, regardless of any affiliation with UA.

Through earnings generated from the investment of endowments combined with its operating budget and other available funds, the National Alumni Association awards more than $5 million in scholarship assistance to nearly 3,000 students each academic year.

Scholarship Application Process

For entering freshmen and transfer students, UA’s scholarship application is included in the admission application. By applying for admission to The University of Alabama, students will be considered for all scholarships for which they qualify. Students may apply for specific scholarships using the supplemental scholarship application. Students can access the application on the myBama portal under the Admissions/Scholarships tab. If a scholarship is not listed on the supplemental scholarship application, then the student is automatically considered if they meet the criteria.

Entering freshmen

January 15 is the priority date for high school seniors to submit the: (1) Application for Admission (which is the scholarship application) at  or; and (2) UA Supplemental Scholarships Application via the portal in order to receive consideration for scholarship review campus-wide.

Transfer Students

In order for transfer students to receive scholarship consideration campus-wide, the priority date to submit both the UA Application for Admission (which is the scholarship application) found at and the Transfer Supplemental Scholarship Application via the portal by March 1.

Currently Enrolled Undergraduate Students

The priority date for undergraduate students to submit the UA Scholarship Application for Continuing Full-time Undergraduate Studentsis March 1. The undergraduate scholarship application is located on the student’s myBama portal under the Admissions/Scholarships tab.
