Nestled in the northeast corner of Alabama is Jackson County. Welcome to the website of the Jackson County Chapter. There is a strong support from University of Alabama alumni and friends in our area, and we encourage membership and involvement in our chapter.
At the heart of our chapter are the endowed scholarships which extend educational opportunities to students from Jackson County, Scottsboro City, and Northeast Community College. We have ten fully endowed scholarships. The 2016 scholarship amount was $33,500.
The Jackson County Chapter awarded $36,000 in scholarships for the 2017-2018 school year.
The Jackson County Chapter was awarded the In-State Chapter of the Year, Small Metro Area for 2016. We are fortunate to have an Executive Committee and many alumni and friends committed to the University of Alabama and the future of our students.

The application processes for the scholarships are as follows:
All of the students are invited to our J. Allen Lee Academic Banquet in the spring.
Junior Honors Trip to the UA Campus
Each spring we take the top 10% of the juniors from Scottsboro and Jackson County to UA by chartered bus in order to tour the campus. They also meet with representatives from different colleges as well as the admissions office and various organizations. Included in the trip are breakfast, lunch, and a time for shopping.
The J. Allen Lee Academic Banquet
The banquet is generally held in April. The scholarships are awarded, and there is a speaker. Usually, a former recipient will also attend and give an update on his or her UA experience.
The Golf Tournament
Goose Pond Colony is the site of our annual golf tournament which is always held on the second Friday in May. It is a fundraiser for our endowed scholarships.
The Roll Tide Barbecue
This is the summer event which celebrates the University of Alabama and especially the upcoming football season. It is also a fundraiser for us. The location is the Goose Pond Civic Center and the meeting includes an informative speaker and an auction. The membership drive is conducted at this meeting, and the “Distinguished Member of the Year” is recognized.
