- Recruit children and grandchildren of graduates of The University of Alabama
- Send a clear signal to UA graduates that “we want your children”
- Provide a tangible Alumni Association membership benefit for UA graduates
In no circumstance will an award be made based on illegal criteria including, but not limited to, race, gender, or national origin.
ENTERING FRESHMAN
Alumni Heritage Scholarship
Scholarship for entering freshmen who are children or grandchildren of a University of Alabama graduate.
- High school seniors must submit the UA Application for Admission at admissions.ua.edu/apply or at commonapp.org and the Alabama Scholarship Award Manager (ASAM) scholarship application via the myBama.ua.edu portal by January 10. Students should self-identify by checking the box for the Alumni Heritage Scholarship listed in the Alabama Scholarship Award Manager (ASAM) scholarship application, and must submit the “Alumni Degree Holder Form” also via myBama.ua.edu
- Parent or grandparent must hold a degree (undergraduate, graduate, or law degree) from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
- The qualifying parent or grandparent must be an active member of the National Alumni Association.
- The qualifying parent or grandparent must be an active member of the National Alumni Association for three of the past five calendar years preceding the student’s entrance year into UA. (Parent or grandparent cannot write check for all three years in one year.)
- The value of the award is $500 for the freshman year only.
- The student must be enrolled in full-time on-campus courses for both the fall and spring semesters (full-time as defined by Student Receivables).
Alumni Scholar Award
This scholarship is for entering freshmen who have a parent or grandparent who received a degree (undergraduate, graduate, or law degree) from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa campus.
- To qualify, the student must score a minimum 25 ACT or 1200 SAT and submit both the UA Application for Admission at admissions.ua.edu/apply or at commonapp.org and the Alabama Scholarship Award Manager (ASAM) scholarship application via the myBama.ua.edu portal by January 10. Students should self-identify by checking the box for the Alumni Scholar Scholarship listed in the Alabama Scholarship Award Manager (ASAM) scholarship application, and must submit the “Alumni Degree Holder Form” also via myBama.ua.edu.
- Parent or grandparent must hold a degree (undergraduate, graduate, or law degree) from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
- The qualifying parent or grandparent must be a current active member of the National Alumni Association. If the parent or grandparent is not a current active member, they may write a check payable to the “Alumni Fund” to immediately qualify the student.
- The value of the award is $4,000 paid over four years of undergraduate study ($1,000 per academic year.)
- The Alumni Scholar Award is renewable for a total of four academic years of undergraduate study (eight semesters consisting of fall and spring) provided:
- the student maintains a minimum cumulative UA 3.0 GPA;
- the qualifying parent or grandparent remains an active member of the National Alumni Association each year of the student’s undergraduate career;
- and, the student is enrolled in full-time on-campus courses each fall and spring semester (full-time as defined by Student Receivables).
CURRENT UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
Alumni Legacy Scholarship
Competitive scholarship for undergraduate students with a minimum 3.0 UA GPA and who are children or grandchildren of a University of Alabama graduate.
- Students must self-identify on the UA Alabama Scholarship Award Manager (ASAM) scholarship application by March 3.
- Parent or grandparent must hold a degree (undergraduate, graduate, or law degree) from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
- The qualifying parent or grandparent must be an active member of the National Alumni Association for three of the past five calendar years preceding the student’s award year. (Parent or grandparent cannot write check for all three years in one year.)
- Students must be active in on-campus clubs and organizations with preference to those involved in SAA, FATE, or alumni-based activities, continuing the legacy of their parents and/or grandparents.
- The value of the award is $1,000 per academic year.
TRANSFER STUDENTS
Alumni Transfer Heritage Scholarship
Scholarship for full-time students who are children or grandchildren of a University of Alabama graduate.
- Students must be admitted to UA and self-identify on the UA Alabama Scholarship Award Manager (ASAM) scholarship application by March 3.
- Parent or grandparent must hold a degree (undergraduate, graduate, or law degree) from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
- The qualifying parent or grandparent must be an active member of the National Alumni Association for three of the past five calendar years preceding the student’s entrance year into UA. (Parent or grandparent cannot write check for all three years in one year.)
- The value of the award is $500 for the one year only.
- The student must be enrolled in full-time on-campus courses for both the fall and spring semesters (full-time as defined by Student Receivables).
Capstone Legacy Scholarship
Competitive scholarship for full-time transfer students with a minimum College GPA of 3.0 and who are children or grandchildren of a University of Alabama graduate.
- Students must self-identify on the UA scholarship application.
- Parent or grandparent must hold a degree (undergraduate, graduate, or law degree) from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
- The qualifying parent or grandparent must be an active member of the National Alumni Association for three of the past five calendar years preceding the student’s award year. (Parent or grandparent cannot write check for all three years in one year.)
- Students must be active in clubs and organizations at the college level.
- The value of the award is $1,000 per academic year.
