Currently the Association offers six different types of insurance programs to our supporters:

1. Term Life Insurance: New graduates of the University are given six months full term life insurance in the amount of $10,000, with the option to purchase $30,000 of coverage with no medical exam. Term Life Insurance is also marketed to all Alabama supporters without the six month.

2. Catastrophic Major Medical Insurance: This plan supplements the benefits provided by basic medical insurance programs. This product features coverage up to $1,000,000 with a deductible of $25,000 on $50,000 as designated by the policy holder.

3. GradMed Short-Term Medical insurance: This is a short-term medical plan that is offered to new graduates or alumni/friends who are looking for a short term health care program. After a $250 deductible is paid by the insured, GradMed will pay 80% of the next $5,000 of usual and customarily covered hospitalization and medical expenses. Thereafter, 100% of all covered expenses. Coverage last 60,90,120, and 180 days.

4. Major Med Comprehensive Medial Insurance: This is a new program offered in 1999 for supporters under age 65 who need broad renewable group health coverage for themselves and their families. The supporter chooses their healthcare provider and coverage includes, doctor bills, prescriptions, hospitalization, surgery, outpatient services There is a $500 deductible, then 80% of covered charges up to $5,000, and pays 100% thereafter.

5. Alumni Dent Comprehensive Dental Plan: This is a new program offered in 1999. This is for supporters of any age, living in California only. Guaranteed acceptance for individuals or families. No charge for dental exams and x-rays. Supporters have a choice of two plans with no deductible and no maximum benefits limit.

6. Alumni SBP for Small Businesses: This is a new program offered in 1999. This is a comprehensive group life, health, and dental coverage for small business owners with employees living in California only. Two million maximum benefits per person, deductible $250. Plus $15,000 life insurance benefits, optional dental plan, psychiatric care and substance abuse benefits.

Based on current premium and claim levels, the Association can expect to receive around $8,000 annually in financial benefits from insurance programs.
