New Orleans Chapter

About

Welcome to the New Orleans Chapter of the Alabama Alumni Association!

Our chapter is open to membership for all alumni, friends, and fans of the University of Alabama. You don’t have to be an alumnus of the University to join – you just have to love the Crimson Tide!

Our chapter is actively involved in the recruiting of high school students in the New Orleans area to attend the University. In doing so, our New Orleans Alabama Chapter awards an annual scholarship, through an endowment at the National Alumni Association, to a deserving entering freshman at the University. Your continued membership contributes to our scholarship fund and allows us to offer member events throughout the year.

It’s a great time to join our New Orleans chapter. We are continuing to grow and improve our local chapter by creating a monthly newsletter, hosting game watching parties and regular events. Check back often for updates on what we‚ are doing.

We’d love to have your support as a NewOrleans Alabama Alumni Chapter member. Remember, you don’t have to be an alumnus of The University to join- you just have to love the Crimson Tide! In joining our local chapter you will help us reach our fundraising goals and expand our local network.

We would also like to know if you are interested in becoming involved in the activities of this chapter, as well your interest in volunteering your time to chapter planning activities and leadership. Please review the attached membership form and become involved at any level.

Scholarship Information

One of our primary goals as a local Alumni Chapter is to raise funds for our New Orleans Chapter Endowed scholarship at the University.  We work directly with the National Alumni Association to host university-related events, recruit local students to attend the University, and most importantly, raise funds for our chapter’s endowed scholarship.  Our goal this year is to increase our endowed scholarship to $35,000, which would allow us to increase the annual scholarship dollars we are able to offer graduating high school seniors planning to attend the University.

Our 2012 scholarship recipient is Ms. Mallory Creed, a graduate of Mount Carmel.  Mallory is the daughter of Gary Creed, one of our long time chapter members.  Gary played an instrumental part in creating the scholarship fund for the New Orleans Chapter. We’re extremely proud of Mallory and wish her the best in her years at the University!

Each summer our chapter participates in a Send Off Party for freshman from the New Orleans area headed to the University of Alabama in the Fall.  This year, over 20 students will be attending the University! We have a great looking, intelligent group heading to BAMA. They will represent us well!   We participate in this Send Off party every summer with our Regional Student Recruiter. This year’s event was hosted by a local family that is also sending a student to their freshman year at the University.  It was a great event and we welcomed new members into the BAMA family.
