Jackson County Chapter

About

Nestled in the northeast corner of Alabama is Jackson County. Welcome to the website of the Jackson County Chapter. There is a strong support from University of Alabama alumni and friends in our area, and we encourage membership and involvement in our chapter.

At the heart of our chapter are the endowed scholarships which extend educational opportunities to students from Jackson County, Scottsboro City, and Northeast Community College. We have ten fully endowed scholarships. The Jackson County Chapter awarded $58,100 in scholarships and chapter grants for the 2022-2023 school year.

The Jackson County Chapter was awarded the In-State Chapter of the Year,  Large Metro Area for 2018.
Larry Ward was honored by the UA National Alumni Association as the 2020 Distinguished Alumnus.

We are fortunate to have an Executive Committee and many alumni and friends committed to the University of Alabama and the future of our students.

The Reception is generally held in April on a Sunday afternoon.  The chapter scholarships are awarded at this event.
Usually, a former recipient will attend and give an update on his or her UA experience.

The Golf Tournament
Either Goose Pond Colony or Plantation Pointe Golf Course is the site of our annual golf tournament which is always held on the second Friday in May.
It is a fundraiser for our endowed scholarships.

The Roll Tide Barbecue
This is the summer event which celebrates the University of Alabama and especially the upcoming football season. It is also a fundraiser for us. The location is the Goose Pond Civic Center and the meeting includes an informative speaker and an auction. The membership drive is conducted at this meeting, and the “Distinguished Member of the Year” is recognized.
